Dr.S.Chauhan is a M.B.B.S graduate from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (A.M.U.), Aligarh (U.P.). A 1968 batch alumnus, she was the first female allopathic medical graduate serving in the textile town of Pilkhuwa, located 50 km from New Delhi. Dr. Chauhan has been serving diligently in this peripheral rural town which faced multitude of challenges in providing health care because of its poor infrastructure and minimal facilities.
With 50 years of experience behind her this family physician had extra sensitivity to the needs of women and children. Beginning her private practice with a humble eight bedded maternity home facility in 1979 she has been instrumental in improving Maternal and child health care by providing antenatal care, management of high-risk pregnancy, legal and safe Medical Termination of pregnancy, family planning, infertility counselling, treatment and immunization services. She has been the torch bearer for Safe motherhood by practicing protocols of safe hospital delivery.
The hospital has seen significant growth under her guidance to a thirty bedded facility equipped with two Operation theatres, Labor room, and addition of Surgical and Orthopedic wings in 2012 and continues to upgrade and offer services to the textile town.
A keen learner she has upgraded her skills and knowledge through workshops, seminars, training programs and continuous medical education over her fifty years of private practice to improvise and practice changing trends in OBG.
