A decade of marriage had fallen apart, she always knew something was not right and it was coming. She hadn’t taken her wedding ring off so that people won’t ask. She just felt it becoming tighter over her fingers as she tried to rotate it. May be her blood pressure was up. She was about to meet the lawyer to discuss her alimony. She was feeling cheated mostly hating herself for being so subservient. She was told that the strength of a woman lay in staying and not walking away. Yet he had thrown her out and shut door on her face. It was really late at night and she was scared. She was a pretty woman and so he said always. She felt ugly and betrayed for loving far too much. She wrote a list of his entitlements that she had gifted him over the years. She wanted nothing of it back for it came from the depth of her soul the way she was born to the “NOW “moment when she was almost buried. She wrote the address of her house on the postal envelope with this list before dropping it in the postbox near the railway station She beckoned to an auto to head to the women’s hostel as she cancelled her plans to meet her lawyer.
Her letter bore no legal stamp. It just read….
